Week 5 - How to improve Speaking and Listening skills through Internet?

Rate: 4 of 5 🞳🞳🞳🞳

My initial reaction of this article was surprise to discovered how Internet can help to teachers and students improve their speaking and listening skills. Moreover, the Internet and technology have changed over the last years offering us a lot of tools that teacher can apply in classroom also students  can find a lot of programs and websites in which they can practice a foreign language.  Something I want to remember from this article is that the receptive communication activities of teachers can be with their own activities or have students access websites that include prepared exercises for example Randall’s ESL Cyber Listening Lab https://www.esl-lab.com/  which is a free website and containing a lot of audios and videos in order that students practice their listening and speaking skill. Besides,  the article mentioned that Lafford and Lafford(1997) “provide some useful suggestions for creating level-specific audio and video listening activities”. In other words, he said that classify the activities to students in basic-level, intermediate-level, and advanced-level with gist questions according to each level of the students is a good option that the websites use to classify their activities. Something that I learned from this article was the interactive communication activities on the Internet can be Synchronous that are activities allow two or more users to interact simultaneously from different computer, such as live chat and instant message. Also, can be Asynchronous that are the acivities involve two or more individuals, do not occur in real-time for example answering messages on email. In conclusion the use of technology in the foreign language in the classroom and how teachers teach and students learn, show that technologies become optimal tools for learning and acquiring the second language.

Week 4 - Internet as a Helpful Tool into ELT

Rate: 5 of 5 🞳🞳🞳🞳🞳

I liked this article because it mentioned the important aspects about the integration of the Internet and how use it. The Internet is a big tool in the process of the students learning because they have the opportunity to practice the language that they are learning and other languages that catch their attention. Nowadays, exists a variety of Websites and Apps in which students can put into practice their skills as grammar, listening, writing and speaking. Something that I want to remember from this article is that the use of Internet in general education increase the learners motivation and reduce anxiety because students can be feel excited at the moment to make an online exercise due to in the majority of websites to practice a second language have scores in which students can see the result of the exercises and that help them to know what they need to improve. Besides, it is a great tool for teachers in which they can find a diversity of activities and dynamic games to implement in their classroom with the objective that the class does not be boring and students will pay more attention and they will not feel the long class.  One of my favorite websites from this article was learnclick.com because teachers and students might even develop their own web-based activities using this free software.
To conclude, the Internet has many benefits in our favor that we can use as future teachers and our students too in order that we learn each day from the resources that gives us this valuable tool called the Internet.

Week 3 - Improve listening skills by podcast

Rate: 5 of 5 🞴🞴🞴🞴🞴

The articles for this week share important information about authentic listening by podcasts and the integration of CALL through podcasting in ESL listening. Something i learned from those articles were the word "authenticity" because this is one of the three criteria of well-designed materials for listening as podcasts. Podcasting is a new method in which audio and files are delivered on demand through the web, and shows a promise as technology can enable teachers to expand the confines of their classroom and is becoming increasingly popular in educational. Something i want to remember from those articles were that podcasts provide a high variety of accents, topics, situations and contexts from native speakers. If students use a high variety of authentic materials during learning activities they will noticed the importance and purpose of the task. Moreover, podcasts motive to students; for example if students can understand a podcast between to native speakers they feel motive to continue practice those kind of podcast and at the same time students improve their listening skill. A belief of mine that was confirmed was podcasts are very common during listening classes because it is a recorded material.

To conclude, every teacher should know that when they teach listening the use must be for "learning to listen" and "listening for learning" those phrases were my favorite one from those articles. Also, my favorite podcast website is
http://digital.vpr.net/programs/why-podcast-curious-kids#stream/0 because it is nice to hear the children's questions.

Week 2 - Students Learning Process through ICT tools

Rate: 5 of  5 🞳🞳🞳🞳🞳

The article for this week share interesting information about Metacognitive process and learning Autonomy. Something I learned from this article was the Metacognitive approach that may contribute to making students become self-regulated learners; it means that metacognition has to do with students' awareness of their own cognitive process and the regulation of these processes in order to achieve their goals in present or in future performance. Another relevant aspect for me is the Autonomy learning; it means that students who are allowed to set their own learning goals and analyze their progress show signs of becoming autonomous. For example when the teacher assign a homework to students and they didn't understand something relevant to the topic they started to search on the Internet and they learned that information by themself, and the article defined this process as "autonomy".

Moreover, the article presented how ICT and metacognition activities such are useful for students to  develop their thinking skills. I will have in mind some activities from the article planning, setting goals, controlling performances and solving problem as activities that can be used  to promote autonomy because those kind of activities can be increase the use of ICT in the classroom . To conclude, all these strategies among ICT encourage students learning process.
